Municipal officials in the Boston Region MPO area often identify transportation issues that are of concern and about which they would like to have technical advice. A team of CTPS and MAPC staff meets with community officials to learn more about their concerns and to provide advice following analysis of the problem by MPO staff. Concerns may include bicycle or pedestrian access, intersection bottlenecks, parking, traffic calming, and concerns related to bus stops.
In federal fiscal year (FFY) 2012, CTPS and MAPC staff performed studies for the following municipalities: Danvers, Revere, Swampscott, and Winchester. The Winchester study involved using the MPO’s regional travel demand model set for a study of the downtown area of Winchester. The resulting traffic volumes for various scenarios were submitted to the Town of Winchester and its consultant.
