Regional Transportation Advisory Council

Home » About Us

The Regional Transportation Advisory Council is an independent body that brings public viewpoints and advice on transportation planning to the Boston Region Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO). Membership includes municipalities, professional organizations, transportation advocacy groups, and state agencies. Anyone is welcome to attend and participate in Advisory Council meetings.

Meetings

The Advisory Council’s monthly meetings offer a forum for broad-based and robust discussions of transportation issues. The Advisory Council is a voting member of the MPO board and is one of several avenues for public participation in the MPO’s planning process.

The Advisory Council typically meets on the second Wednesday of each month at 2:30 PM, virtually, on Zoom. All meetings are open to the public. Please visit the MPO's calendar for meeting links, agendas, minutes, presentations, and other meeting-related materials.

Bylaws and Structure

Please see the Advisory Council’s bylaws (PDF) Advisory Council’s bylaws (HTML) for more information on the Advisory Council’s structure.

The Advisory Council’s officers for FFY 2023 are Lenard Diggins of the MBTA Rider Oversight Committee (Chair), and Franny Osman of the Acton Transportation Advisory Committee (Vice Chair).

Comment Letters

The Advisory Council reviews and comments on each Boston Region MPO Long-Range Transportation Plan, Unified Planning Work Program, and Transportation Improvement Program, and will weigh in on other issues and projects from time to time. Below is a record of recent Advisory Council comment letters.
