MassDOT, Massport, and private transit companies maintain park-and-ride lots throughout the MPO region. MassDOT owns and operates park-and-ride lots to encourage carpooling and vanpooling and to support the Logan Express bus service, which shuttles travelers from the park-and-ride lots and other locations to Logan Airport. Private transportation companies use park-and-ride lots to support express bus services to Boston and other employment centers.
The most recent data available regarding the capacity and utilization of MassDOT park-and-ride lots were collected by MassDOT between February 2005 and June 2011.
