REGIONAL TRANSPORTATION ADVISORY COUNCIL

For the Term November 1, 2017 October 31, 2018

Nomination for Tegin Teich Bennett, Transportation Planner, City of Cambridge for Chair of the Regional Transportation Advisory Committee, 2017-2018

I have been privileged to spend the last two years as Chair for the Regional Transportation Advisory Council. In the first year, I focused on building my relationship with the MPO members, MPO staff, MassDOT, and other key stakeholders as a representative of the Advisory Council. Last year I enhanced my effort to best represent and emphasize the input of the Advisory Council. We have had an excellent year, providing important input on the TIP and UPWP, as well as on other key topics discussed at the MPO such as public review periods, RTA representation on the MPO, and so on. I hope that the Advisory Council will elect me for another year, which will be exciting as we build momentum for the LRTP and scenario planning process. I will continue to work with CTPS and the Advisory Council to provide both meaningful input into the 3C process as well as facilitate interesting topics for discussion at Advisory Council meetings when we do not focus entirely on the 3C process.

I am currently a Watertown resident and have lived in the Boston area (including Boston, Cambridge, Somerville, Arlington, Belmont, Weymouth, and Natick) for 20 years. I have Masters degrees in both Urban Planning and Transportation from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. I have worked for the last nine years as a transportation planner, first in the private sector, and now for the City of Cambridge. I have held leadership positions on various boards and committees in the past: I helped build a local chapter of a networking organization for young transportation professionals (YPT), serving on its board for four years; I have been member and Vice Chair of local municipal transportation committees in Cambridge and Somerville as a resident; and now, as staff for the City of Cambridge, I manage a transit committee that advises the City on investments related to public transit.

I look forward to continuing to participate in all of the Advisory Council’s activities in the coming year, and hope to be elected to represent the Advisory Council again as its Chair.

REGIONAL TRANSPORTATION ADVISORY COUNCIL

For the Term November 1, 2017 October 31, 2018

Nomination for AnaCristina (AC) Fragoso, Boston Society of Civil Engineers, for Vice Chair of the Regional Transportation Advisory Council, 2017-18

I was born in Europe but raised in the US and moved to Boston in 1998. I graduated from University of Massachusetts with a bachelor of science in civil engineering and settled in Lowell with my husband Tyson.

I have been heavily involved with the Boston Society of Civil Engineers, sitting on several boards, volunteering at many out-reach events such as Future City and Model Bridge and hold the current chair for the government affairs committee. I am also a member of Women in Transportation Seminars and the American Council of Engineering Companies. I also host a television show ‘Civil Engineering Today for Boston Neighborhood Network which highlights local projects and events in Boston that impact the transportation and changes in the city for Boston proper and the surrounding area.

I have become a strong advocate for public transportation and focusing on areas and ideas to improve all forms of transportation through many outlets, and RTAC is another opportunity to continue in this endeavor. I would like to increase the membership numbers and build a core group of like-minded individuals who, like you, understand the need and importance of transportation in their lives.

I look forward to working with you all, and thank you for teaching me so much already!
